The social studies 10 curriculum builds on previous grades but challenges students to think on a deeper level about Canada and the world. Major themes include conflict and Identity. Discrimination and reconciliation, political, and economic systems, as well as Canada's evolving role in the global economy.

Lessons go beyond memorizing dates and names; they focus on understanding how ideas and decisions have shaped society. Students use inquiry skills to analyze primary and secondary sources, interpret historical events, and evaluate their lasting effects.

In the Incentive Social Studies 10 version, students participate in independent research, debates, and projects that encourage deeper reflection.
By the end of the course, students can make informed and ethical judgments about social and historical issues and understand how Canada’s identity continues to develop today.
