In English 9/10, students explore four main areas of literature: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama. Each unit helps them understand how language expresses feeling, thought, and culture.

In poetry, students learn about rhythm, structure, and imagery by studying forms like sonnets, haikus, and villanelles. Fiction lessons build imagination and storytelling skills, while nonfiction focuses on writing about real experiences with vivid detail. Drama lets students perform, analyze plays, and express emotion through dialogue and movement.

What makes this course special is its mix of creativity and structure. Students write essays, create original poetry, and even do presentations or performances. Technology is also part of learning as one teacher mentioned, “I actually really think students should use Grammarly if they want to. It helps them improve, so why not?”
