English 9/10 builds strong academic and personal skills. Academically, students improve in writing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking, skills that prepare them for higher-level courses. Each year adds new challenges: by grade 8 students focus on paragraphs, by grade 10 they’re writing full essays.

This gradual growth builds confidence and solid communication habits.
Personally, the class helps students see beyond literal meanings and think deeper about stories and human emotions. One teacher explained, “Hopefully students realize that the literal meaning of words isn’t always what we’re going for.”
English also gives space for creativity. Students can express themselves through poetry, acting, and reflective writing. It’s a course that strengthens both your mind and your voice.
