French 10 builds upon everything students learned in earlier years, focusing on developing stronger communication skills and a deeper understanding of the French language and culture. The course moves beyond basic greetings and vocabulary, introducing more advanced grammar concepts such as different verb tenses, pronominal verbs, and subject agreements. Students review familiar topics like adjectives, prepositions, and sentence structure but now use them to create more complex sentences and paragraphs.

The class begins with grammar lessons to strengthen accuracy, speaking or listening activities where students use French in real-time conversations. Teachers often encourage students to speak only French for a set time during class, helping them gain confidence and fluency. Writing assignments, cultural projects, and short presentations are also common, allowing students to demonstrate their growing ability to understand and communicate ideas clearly.
Through movies, music, and interactive exercises, students explore francophone cultures from around the world, including France, Canada, and parts of Africa, connecting language learning with real-world experiences. By the end of the course, students can express themselves more freely, understand complex texts, and engage in meaningful discussions in French.
